Intermedia buys legal tech company Flightright

German firm Intermedia has purchased legal tech outfit Flightright, which helps passengers claim damages following cancelled or delayed flights.

Intermedia, one of Germany’s leading media companies, has acquired the European air passenger rights portal Flightright.

Flightright’s business model is based on the judicial enforcement of claims for damages for airline passengers in the event of cancelled or delayed flights. Legaltech solutions are deployed to assist passengers in filing standardized claims for damages.

Flightright, which is based in Potsdam, Germany, was founded in 2010 and has since won over €200 million in damages for its users.

Intermedia, based in Ludwigshafen, acts as a holding company for activities in the digital media segment.

According to the transaction’s legal advisors Dentons, the deal, which value has not been disclosed, is subject to approval by antitrust authorities.

Dentons’ Berlin-based partner Dr. Arne Friel led the team advising Intermedia during the purchase contract negotiations as well as due diligence across several jurisdictions, including France and Spain.
